Carbon Neutral Farm
In collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture (MAG), Laguna Verde is part of the Costa Rican NAMA (Nationally Apporpriate Mitigation Actions) program since 2020 to evaluate the impact of farming on the emission of greenhouse gas emissions. In 2021 Finca Laguna Verde was declared Carbon Neutral. Technically we are carbon negative, which means that on a yearly basis the farm sequesters 302.4 tons more greenhouse gases, then the methane and other greenhouse gases that are produced on the farm. This carbon is stored in our soils and trees, ensuring a positive impact on the planet.
Bandera Azul Ecologica
Finca Laguna Verde has been continuously certified Ecological Blue Flag (Bandera Azul Ecológica) since 2018. This recognition from the Costa Rican Government certifies the commitment that Finca Laguna Verde has to the environment and conservation. This certification recognizes organizations that have positive environmental impact on their communities and the ecosystem.
